Overview

LIST-OF-ECCAS-MRH

During its 13th session held in February 2005 in Libreville, the Council of Ministers of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa States (ECCAS) gave a mandate to its body responsible for public health issues, the Coordination Organization for Fight Against Endemics in Central Africa (OCEAC), to lead the process of harmonizing National Pharmaceutical Policies (NPP) in Central Africa. This process led in 2013 to the adoption by the ECCAS Conference of Heads of State, of the Common Pharmaceutical Policy (CPP), the main purpose of which is to make available to all populations, pharmaceuticals products that are safe, effective, of good quality and at a lower cost. Following this, four (04) Implementing Regulations were adopted, relating to pharmacovigilance, approval, inspection, and drug supply. The progress thus noted in the process of harmonizing the national pharmaceutical policies of the ECCAS countries has laid the foundation for the effective implementation of the AMRH (African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization) project of AUDA-NEPAD in the sub-region. To date, joint activities (joint reviews of Marketing Authorization dossiers), training sessions, advocacy, are carried out in the ECCAS zone, in collaboration with partners.
